Brittany Verdin Jimenez of the United Houma Nation


Bio

Brittany Verdin Jimenez is a Wife, Mom, Daughter, Sister, Auntie, Friend, language activist and a member of the United Houma Nation. They work with yarn, beads, and media to discuss her Indigenous language and cultural traditions and what that looks like today. She's been doing this since her early teenage years, learned through her time at tribal summer camps, and has even attended linguistic and immersion classes at the American Indian Language Development Institute (AILDI)- Summer Session out of University of Arizona. Throughout the year she is a dedicated team member of the Houma Language Project, a reclamation of the Houma language.
