Ida asks four Gulf South Two-Spirit identified people four questions, and the conversation flows from there.
1. Who are you, and who are your Gulf South Indigenous community(ies)? How are you related to the Gulf South?
2. What does Two-Spirit mean to you, or alternatively are there other words in your language that you connect with around your Queer-lensed identity?
3. Talk to me about your thoughts around the expansiveness of the idea of "Two-Spiritedness".
4. What do you wish general society knew about these unique Indigenous genders, gender roles, and/or identities?
Financial and administrative support for this 2025 project came from the Black, Indigenous, and Trans of Color Histories Lab.
The Two-Spirit Interview Series was conceptualized and produced by Ida Aronson, in collaboration with the rest of Cohort 1 of the BITPOC Histories Lab, and with transcription support from Brittany Verdin Jimenez.
