Aletu! Seyulhtcefuyat Rachel. Ãkanúme’ ulhtcefuyat Belleut metca Bruleigh. Houma seyah. Chitimacha seyah. Balbãsa' metca Misha Sipokni ámẽteleh. Greetings! My name is Rachel Billiot, and I’m Houma and Chitimacha. I come from Bulbancha, at the tail end of the Mississippi River. I’m an environmentalist, interdisciplinary researcher, artist, and storyteller. Living in the Mississippi River Delta, I grew up in a mosaic of ecosystems, from saltwater marshes to live oak levees and swamplands, playing in rainwaters and watching tadpoles grow in our ponds. Through the things I do and create, I hope to share stories and pour love back into the land & waters.
