Rachel Billiot is an Indigenous (Houma & Chitimacha) storyteller, environmental educator, & folk artist from the tail-end of the Mississippi River. Her work intertwines art, storytelling, & ecological sciences to honor & teach about the rich mosaic of our river delta's diverse habitats. Projects include experiments with alligator garfish scales & native plant dyes, as well as mixed media illustrations that explore the interconnectedness between our natural environments & communities. Combined with cultural storytelling, Rachel illustrates past & present connections to our ecosystems in order to reshape perceptions & pour love back into the land & waters.
