Colleen Billiot of the United Houma Nation

Colleen Billiot is a member of the United Houma Nation. She is co-founder of the Houma Language Project, an apprentice basket weaver and storyteller, and a tribal history enthusiast. Her focus is on strengthening intra- and inter-tribal community ties by preserving and restoring traditional ways. She was also recently certified as an instructor of Basic Physical Defense with the goal of sharing this knowledge with indigenous womxn and girls.
